Frustrated over the delay in the release of South Indian actor Vijay's latest flick Thalaivaa, his ardent fan reportedly hung himself to death here on Saturday.

Vishnu Kumar (20), a construction worker, had made a habit of seeing the first show of Vijay's films for the past five years, reports Tamil daily Maalai Malar.

Kumar left early to join the long que outside Central Theater at six in the morning to secure the coveted first-day-first-show tickets of the film Thalaivaa.

At 9am when he learned that the film was not releasing he got upset, the daily states. He then rushed to Palakkad, Kerala upon hearing rumors that the film had released there.

But upon learning that the film had not made it to Palakkad theatres he returned home and hanged himself, reports Maalai Malar.

Coimbatore police have filed an FIR and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, actor Vijay has sent a 'calm down' mailer to all his fans today. The mailer requests his fans to remain patient. He has also promised that talks are going on with the concerned parties to release the film in Chennai as soon as possible.
