Vikram, who was busy shooting for Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram till recently in Turkey, has now begun working on his next film Saamy 2 to be directed by Hari.
The sequel to hit 2003 film is directed by Hari and will also feature Keerthy Suresh and Trisha. The music for the film will be scored by Devi Sri Prasad. The composer shared the news on Twitter.
Prabhu and Soori will also play important characters in the movie. However, there is no word out about who will be playing the antagonist in the film. Saamy 2 will follow the journey of Aarusamy, deputy commissioner of police of Tirunelveli. The previous film was a blockbuster, a much needed commercial success for Vikram. The film made him a star. It was, in fact, after Saamy that his career renewed with a new spirit.
The actor might be hoping to do the same with the sequel. His recent films like Iru Mugan and 10 Endrathukkule couldn’t exactly put the box office on fire, so Vikram would be hoping for a new lease of life this time. It would be interesting to see the actor back on the silver screen as a cop. If Trisha is reprising her role, who will Keerthy Suresh play in the film? We can only wait to find the answer.
The shooting of the film began in Chennai, and Vikram posed for pictures with the cast and crew. Looks like Trisha, who is currently working on Hey Jude and ‘96 simultaneously, has not so far joined the sets of this film.
