Emissions from fossil fuels to hit an all-time high in 2022: Study
Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels, the main driver of climate change, are on track to rise one percent in 2022 to reach an all-time high, scientists said Friday at the COP27 climate summit in Egypt. "Oil is more driven by the recovery from Covid, and coal and gas are more driven by events in Ukraine," research director at CICERO climate research institute in Norway, Glen Peters, told AFP.

Smallest main belt asteroid detected by James Webb telescope: NASA
European astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have detected a previously unknown asteroid about the size of Rome's Colosseum in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The asteroid measuring between 300 and 650 feet (100 to 200 meters) in length is the smallest object observed to date using the telescope, the US space agency NASA said Monday. It was detected during calibration of the telescope's Mid-InfraRed Instrument, which operates in mid-infrared wavelengths.
