Tamil Nadu minister for medical and family welfare Ma Subramanian put forth the request after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday said that exports of surplus Covid-19 vaccines would resume next month under the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ programme.

The petitioner submitted that land measuring 3,227 square feet on MTH Road, belonging to Sri Agatheeswarar Swamy temple in Villivakkam was assigned to his ancestor, who had put up a superstructure some 30 years ago. In 2011, the petitioner acquired the property registered in his name by the Sub-Registrar. As the temple initiated eviction proceedings, he moved the high court with the present petition.

The newly carved out reservation will ensure that at least 10,000 students would be able to get into engineering colleges and 350 students would join other professional courses, Tamil Nadu chief minister Stalin added.

The Tamil Nadu govt will bear tuition fees among others of students enrolling in professional courses in State under 7.5% quota in professional courses, CM M K Stalin said on Monday.

“In our estimation, the state is easily capable of utilising 50 lakh vaccine doses every week,” the Tamil Nadu chief minister wrote, saying that in a week five lakh doses could be administered every day for six days and 20 lakh doses for a mega camp on the seventh day.

The Court cautioned High Courts from falling into an error by sitting as an “appellate authority” on technology and commercial expediency in tender matters and said that the Courts should only consider whether the choice of decision to award the tender was “lawful” and not whether it was “sound”.

In Coimbatore, the number of crimes against women was 107 in 2018 which dipped to 85 in 2019 and went up to 97 in 2020 with a charge-sheeting rate of 97.9%, the data shows.

The fall in cases is in keeping with a larger national trend which has seen crimes against foreigners fall from 517 in 2018 to 191 in 2021 largely on account of fewer people travelling as tourists across the globe due to Covid-19, which was declared a global pandemic in early 2020.
