After Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9, all eyes are on Apple which is gearing up for its next iPhone launch next month. Google will soon follow with its own Android flagship phones, dubbed as Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. There’s also a lot of buzz around OnePlus’ next smartphone, OnePlus 6T, expected to launch in October.
Apple iPhone 2018
Apple is reportedly going to launch its iPhone 2018 models on September 12. According to a report, Apple will be launching as many as three models this year. The new iPhones are likely to be called iPhone 9, iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Plus.
“If the rumours are legit, the iPhone 9 will be Apple’s ‘entry-level’ offering and will pack an iPhone X like 6.1-inch LCD screen with room up top for Face ID,” The Inquirer reported on Tuesday.
“The iPhone 11 and 11 Plus -- also referred to as the iPhone X2 and iPhone X Plus -- will sport 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays, respectively, with rumours also pointing to souped-up camera setups, an upgraded 7nm A11 CPU, and a brand new USB-C charger, the report added.
Apple is also said to add Apple Pencil support to its top-end iPhone 2018 model. There will also be a 512GB model. It is worth noting that both stylus support and 512GB native storage are already available on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 which launched earlier this month.
Google Pixel 3
Google is expected to launch its Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones in October this year. Ahead of the launch, Google Pixel 3 XL has made several unofficial appearances online. The latest leak reveals the design of the phone, showing a notch on the front and sensors for face scanning. The overall look and feel of the phone seems very similar to Google’s current Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones.
Google Pixel 3 XL will have the Active Edge functionality which lets you access key features of the phone by squeezing the sides. The phone will be powered by a 3,430mAh battery. Google’s next flagship phone will also be slightly larger at 6.71-inch but with higher screen-to-body ratio.
The “T” model from OnePlus traditionally comes with incremental specifications upgrade. The new OnePlus 6T is going to be no different. According to recent reports, OnePlus 6T will have minor design changes such as a smaller notch on the front. The phone will also be available in the US and is said to be optimised for the local T-Mobile network. OnePlus 6T, however, is expected to be more expensive at $550 (Rs 38,300 approximately).
