Apple pushes Tips alerts about iOS 11 features ahead of iPhone 8 launch
Apple is sending ‘tips’ to iOS 10 users to prepare them for the imminent launch of iOS 11.tech Updated: Sep 09, 2017 14:51 IST
Apple is set to unveil its latest generation iPhones on September 12. As per the tradition, the new iPhones, including an iPhone 8 aka iPhone X aka iPhone Edition, will run on the latest iteration of iOS operating system. As showcased at Apple’s WWDC 2017 earlier this year, iOS 11 comes with a wide range of new features and UI improvements over the current iteration.
While the public beta of iOS 11 is already available for download, Apple has updated its Tips on iOS to send notifications to new users about the latest features and how to use them, whenever they’re rolled out, reports 9to5Mac. If you are already an iPhone user, it’s unlikely you would take a lot of time to get started with the new version. But the Tips app can very well be useful for older users as well as those who’ve just joined the iOS bandwagon.
The Tips app consists of six tips, primarily focusing on the revamped Control Center, Do not Disturb (when driving), Live Photo effects, how to use Siri commands and the new Files app. It may be recalled that these were touted as the core new features of the iOS 11 at the developer conference earlier this year.
The revamped Control Center is now much more dynamic to give users more control on the Settings. An elaborate UI is quite reminiscent to Google’s control center in its Android Marshmallow and Nougat versions. The Files app, on the other hand, now makes it much easier to seamlessly manage, edit and share files between iPhone and cloud.
Apple is expected to announce a formal date for the official roll out of iOS 11 at its September 12 event. Traditionally, Apple rolls out the software update to its older users shortly after the launch of new iPhones. But it appears, Apple’s iOS 11 may roll out for older devices much earlier than expected.
