BlackBerry KEYOne launched in India at Rs 39,990: Specifications, features

Blackberry’s KEYOne smartphone was launched in India on Tuesday. The Rs 39,990 phone will be exclusively available via Amazon India from August 8.

BlackBerry launched its KEYOne smartphone in India on Tuesday. Priced at Rs 39,990, the smartphone will be exclusively available via Amazon India starting August 8.

The company has made some changes to the India variant of the smartphone, dubbed as the BlackBerry KEYOne Limited Edition. While the international variant comes with 3GB of RAM and single SIM support, the India variant gets 4GB of RAM and dual-SIM support. It is worth pointing out here that the BlackBerry KEYOne is the first BlackBerry smartphone in India to come with dual-SIM support.

The BlackBerry KEYOne brings a combination of touchscreen and physical QWERTY keyboard. It also features a fingerprint scanner that is embedded into the space bar of the physical keyboard in front. The ‘smart’ keyboard comes with a range of features such as next-word prediction and contextual auto-correction. You can also customise keys as shortcut to launch apps. For example, you can set M to launch the Maps app.

BlackBerry has also included its DTEK security solution in the KEYOne smartphone. The solution allows you to keep a tab on the apps accessing your device information. Further, the smartphone comes preloaded with a slew of BlackBerry apps such as BlackBerry Hub, BBM, and Password Keeper among others.

BlackBerry KEYOne Specifications

It measures 149.3 x 72.5 x 9.4mm and weighs around 180 grams. It comes with a 4.5-inch display with 1620 x 1080 pixels resolution, 433ppi and 3:2 aspect ratio. It runs Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM.

The phone features 64GB of built-in storage and supports expandable storage up to 2TB. For photography, the smartphone comes with 12-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, PDAF and supports 4K video recording at 30fps. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera with 84-degree wide angle lens.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, Wi-Fi, and USB Type-C. The BlackBerry KEYOne is powered by a 3,505mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
