Windows 95 started it all, spawning an era of open source operating systems way before there were laptops and WiFi. Those of us of brought up in the 90s still remember the weird cryptic dial tone of the modem as it connected users to the yet to be explored world wide web.
In today’s age where connectivity is measured by the millisecond, millions of teenagers world over have no idea what the Windows 95 experience is.
So the Fine Brothers — makers of the hugely popular Teens React To series on YouTube — decided to do just that: Get Teens to react to Windows 95 as the operating system turned 20.
From bemusement to awe and wonder, 21st century teens show quite the range of reactions when asked to figure out how to operate Microsoft’s decades old OS.
“Wait, what is a modem?”
“How do you get on the internet if there’s no WiFi?”
The video is hilarious, for obvious reasons, and has already racked up a million views.
Microsoft released Windows 95 on August 24, 1995. It marked the first OS offering 32-bit multi-tasking support and most importantly, was also the first OS to support Internet connectivity right out-of-the-box, making it significantly easier to get online.
