Fortnite arrives on Android to help Samsung Galaxy Note 9 become top gaming phone

Fortnite on Android will be exclusive to Galaxy Note 9 for a month. It will be launched for other smartphones later this year.

At Samsung’s ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event, the company announced the launch of Fortnite for Android. Epic Games will launch the beta version of Fortnite this week. Galaxy Note 9 will be the first smartphone to get access to Fortnite on Android.

Epic Games will also launch an exclusive Fortnite skin for Galaxy Note 9 called ‘Galaxy’. Epic Games has released invites for Fortnite for Galaxy Note 9 users.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is currently up for pre-orders in the US, and it will go on sale starting August 24. For those who pre-order the smartphone starting today till August 23 will get to choose between AKG noise cancelling headphones or the exclusive Fortnite Galaxy skin along with 15,000 V-bucks for free. There’s another offer of availing both the products at a price of $99 (Rs 6,900 approximately).

Galaxy Note 9 starts at $999 (Rs 68,800 approximately) for the 6GB+128GB variant, and $1249 (Rs 86,000 approximately) for the top model with 8GB+512GB storage configuration.

Fortnite on Android will not be available on Google Play Store like other games. Users will have to go to the official website of Epic Games’ Fortnite, download the game APK (programme files) and install it on their phone.

Epic Games will be launching Fortnite for other smartphones soon. The full list of compatible smartphones for Fortnite include – Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Huawei Mate 10, Pro and Lite, Huawei Mate 9 and Pro, Huawei P10, P10 Plus, P20 Lite, Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei P8 Lite (2017), LG G6, LG V30/V30+, Motorola E4 Plus, Motorola Moto G5, G5 Plus, G5S, Motorola Moto Z2 Play, Nokia 6, Razer Phone, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017), Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, Pro, 2017, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016), Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+, Sony Xperia XA1/Ultra/Plus, and Sony Xperia XZ, XZs, XZ 21.
