In just a day of publishing, repair firm iFixit removed its teardown of Samsung’s first foldable smartphone, Galaxy Fold, on the company’s request.

On its official blog, iFixit explained that the Samsung Galaxy Fold unit they received was through a trusted third party, fuelling suspicions about the unit being an underdeveloped version of the anticipated smartphone, or probably the device is actually as fragile as the teardown discovered, much to Samsung’s disappointment.

It is unclear if Samsung is reworking on the Galaxy Fold’s design and durability before it ships to the consumers. In its teardown, iFixit gave it a score of 2/10 on the repairability scale owing to its fragility, making it difficult to repair.

Samsung Galaxy Fold specifications

Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display up front, and a bigger 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED screen when unfolded. The foldable smartphone runs on a 7nm processor paired with 12GB of RAM. For photography, Galaxy Fold features six cameras in total.

On the outside it has a triple-camera setup of 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, and 12-megapixel telephoto lens. It has dual front cameras on the inside consisting of a 10-megapixel and 8-megapixel RGB sensor with f/1.9 aperture.

The smartphone is powered by a 4,380mAh battery with Wireless PowerShare technology. On the software front, it offers Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. Galaxy Fold will go on sale at $1980 (Rs 1,40,000 approximately).
