Meet CLOi SuitBot, LG’s futuristic wearable robot with Artificial Intelligence
CLOi SuitBot is essentially a futuristic exosuit that aims to support people with more mobility and strength.Updated: Aug 23, 2018 14:10 IST
LG on Thursday introduced CLOi SuitBot, its first “human-centric” wearable robot. The CLOi SuitBot isn’t like the regular human-mimicking robots like Sophia and Emma but an advanced version of exoskeleton aimed at supporting and enhancing a user’s legs for more mobility and lower limb strength.
Exoskeletons are external wearable machines used to gibe strength and support for limb movement in humans. LG’s CLOi SuitBot also has sandal-type shoes and automatic adjustment feature for more comfort. LG’s CLOi SuitBot will be unveiled at the IFA 2018 conference which kicks off on August 31 in Berlin.
CLOi SuitBot: How it works
LG says that its CLOi SuitBot is “a comfortable fit” with ease in putting it on and off than other exoskeletons. The wearable robot has a belt on top with two supporting joints with clamps on the thighs and the calves. The new robot has been designed in collaboration with SG ROBOTICS.
LG CLOi SuitBot is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI which helps the wearable robot to study and analyse biometric and environment data along with movements. Accordingly it suggests movements and stances to provide maximum power efficiency.
LG CLOi SuitBot will also be compatible with the company’s CLOi series of robots announced earlier this year at CES 2018. The lineup includes CLOi Serving Robot, Por-ter Robot and Shopping Cart Robot. The company aims to build a smarter network with its robots in locations like manufacturing, logistics and distribution.
Apart from a new robot, LG is also expected to launch a new smartphone at IFA, which will possibly be V40, an upgrade to last year’s V30.
