Lenovo-owned Motorola has launched its first ‘premium’ smartphone of the year — Moto Z3 Play.
The successor to last year’s Moto Z2 Play comes with notable upgrades and improvements and also continues support for all existing Moto Mods.
Moto Z3 Play has been launched in Brazil with a price tag of BRL 2,999 (Rs 52,300 approximately). It will be available later this summer in the US and Canada. Details of India launch are yet to be announced.
The most noticeable difference between the Moto Z3 Play and its predecessor is the edge-to-edge display up front. With thinner bezels on top and bottom, Moto Z3 Play offers more room for display.
It has also removed the physical Home button. Instead, the company has kept the fingerprint sensor on the side with a new ‘One Button Nav’ bar at the bottom of the display.
Moto Z3 Play Specifications
Moto Z3 Play features a 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display comes with Gorilla Glass protection, which also extends to the rear panel.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor which also powers Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. In terms of memory, Moto Z3 Play offers 4GB RAM with storage options of 32GB and 64GB.
In the photography department, Moto Z3 Play sports a dual-camera setup at the rear with 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel AI-powered sensors. The cameras can create Cinemagraphs — a type of photography which creates movement on still images.
Google Lens is also integrated in the cameras of Moto Z3 Play. For selfies, Moto Z3 Play offers an 8-megapixel camera with portrait mode.
On the software front, it runs Android 8.1 Oreo, and packs a 3,000mAh battery. For connectivity, the smartphone comes with a USB Type-C port.
In case you didn’t know, Motorola had ditched the 3.5mm audio jack in this series with the Moto Z2 Play.
Moto Z3 Play Features
Moto Z3 Play comes with the company’s Moto Display and Moto Actions. Moto Display automatically adjusts the display at night for comfortable viewing. Moto Actions are basically gestures like twisting your wrist to launch the camera or turn on the flashlight.
