MWC 2018: Here’s what to expect from Xiaomi, Samsung, Nokia and more

After Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the tech giants are now gearing up for the next major event, Mobile World Congress (MWC). The event primarily focused on the mobile platform is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain between February 26 and March 1.
Each year top smartphone companies, including the likes of Samsung, Sony and LG, unveil their new smartphones ahead or during the conference. This year MWC is going to be no different.
Samsung has already confirmed that it will be holding an event on February 25 to unveil its latest flagship smartphones, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus.
Apart from Samsung, MWC 2018 will see major announcements from the likes of Sony and newbies like Xiaomi and Nokia. So, without further ado let’s check out the top smartphone launches anticipated at MWC 2018.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung has already confirmed it will be hosting an “Unpacked” event to launch its latest flagship smartphones.
According to reports, Samsung Galaxy S9-series will be an incremental upgrade over the predecessor but with subtle changes on the design front. The new smartphones will also come with the latest processors for better performance.
Powered by in-house designed and developed Exynos 9810, Samsung Galaxy S9 could come in a 512GB storage variant as well. Other expected features of the phone include 18:5:9 screen, facial recognition and dual 12-megapixel rear cameras..
Xiaomi is speculated to launch a successor to its Mi MIX bezel-less smartphone at the MWC 2018. Called Mi MIX 2S, the smartphone will come with an all-glass body. There were reports that the company was planning to launch a flagship Mi 7, but new reports suggest otherwise. Reports also suggest the company is unlikely to launch a Mi MAX 3, successor to its large-screen MAX 2 smartphone.
Nokia is rumoured to have a greater presence at the MWC 2018. In fact, the company is speculated to launch a Nokia 6 (2018) variant. Rumours suggest there could be at least two new smartphones from Nokia.
Just recently a new Nokia phone, dubbed as Nokia 7 Plus, was spotted on a benchmarking website. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s 660 chipset, indicating it could be a mid-range focused smartphone.
There are also reports of the company launching a new Nokia 10, which could be the new flagship smartphone.
Traditionally, LG has launched multiple devices at MWC. The company launched G5 and G6 at MWC 2015 and 2016 editions. This year LG may unveil G7.
Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to launch Moto G6 and G6 Plus whereas Sony is likely to unveil Xperia XZ Pro. Huawei is likely to unveil its new P-series of smartphones. According to reports, the new smartphones from Huawei will be called P11, P11 Plus and P20 Plus.
BlackBerry is also going to make a comeback at the MWC 2018. Reports suggest TLC, which owns license to BlackBerry brand, plans to launch as many as two phones, including highly rumoured KeyTwo aka KeyOne 2.
