HMD Global, which owns the rights to use Nokia branding on mobile phones and tablets, has sent out invites to the media for an event on October 31. The company is expected to launch its latest Android smartphone, Nokia 7, on that day.

Launched earlier this month, the Nokia 7 is positioned between the premium Nokia 8 and budget Nokia 6 smartphones. The base variant of the Nokia 7 is priced at $377 (Rs 24,500 approximately) whereas the top-end model costs $407 (Rs 26,500 approximately). The Nokia 7 has gone on sale in China today.

While most of the media reports hint at the Nokia 7 launch next week, there have also been rumours of an entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone as well. The Nokia 2 was recently spotted on a US website with a price tag of $99 (Rs 6,500 approximately).

Nokia 7: Specifications, features

The Nokia 7 is the first smartphone from HMD Global to come with a glass back. The smartphone has “vacuum molded” Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the rear along with metal side frames. It has a 5.2-inch full HD IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The Nokia 7 runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box and is promised to receive Android Oreo update. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM. It has 64GB built-in storage, expandable via a microSD card.

The Nokia 7 also has the Bothie feature, which was introduced with the Nokia 8. The feature allows users to take photos and videos from the rear and front cameras simultaneously. Users can also combine the stills taken from the back and front cameras to create a single image.

The smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with 1.12um pixels and an f/1.8 aperture. On the front it has a 5-megapixel camera with 1.4um pixels, 84-degree field-of-view and an f/2.0 aperture. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack and NFC.

It is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and also houses a fingerprint reader which is located on the back.
