OnePlus 6T 8GB model gets big price cut: Should you wait for OnePlus 7?
OnePlus 6T has received a big price cut ahead of OnePlus 7 launch in India. Here are pros and cons of buying OnePlus 6T right now.Updated: May 03, 2019 17:58 IST
Days before OnePlus 7 series launch in India, OnePlus has announced a big price drop for its top-end model of OnePlus 6T. The smartphone with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be available for Rs 31,499 with Rs 9,000 off during Amazon Summer Sale. OnePlus 6T will also get Rs 1,500 instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards.
Note that this is the second time OnePlus has slashed prices of its OnePlus 6T smartphone. Last month, OnePlus 6T prices were dropped by Rs 3,000 during Amazon India’s Fab Phones Fest.
OnePlus 6T’s 8GB model with 256GB storage for Rs 31,499 looks like a good deal but should you just wait for OnePlus 7 which is set to launch in India on May 14.
If you’re planning to buy OnePlus 6T, note that you’ll get an older Snapdragon 845 processor. Camera can be another reason you may want to skip OnePlus 6T. Since OnePlus 6T launch, smartphones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and HonorView 20 have stepped up the camera game.
OnePlus 7 is rumoured to come with the latest Snapdragon 855 processor and a dual-rear camera setup including a 48-megapixel sensor. Some of the improvements on the latest phone include better in-screen fingerprint sensor and faster charging support. The triple-rear camera setup, dual-curved display, pop-up selfie camera and other premium features will come to OnePlus 7 Pro.
That said, OnePlus 7 will launch with usual premium price tag. It’s highly unlikely you’ll get an 8GB model of OnePlus 7 under Rs 35,000. Even a year old processor, Snapdragon 845 is no slouch. OnePlus 6T is still one of the best phones in terms of performance. It’s also a big upgrade over the older OnePlus 5T in terms of design and overall performance. OnePlus has made sure it provides regular software and security updates to its older phones. OnePlus 6T’s software is expected to receive upgrades for at least two more years.
