OnePlus 6T’s design change will make notch haters happier
OnePlus 6T is expected to launch in October with minor design changes and an incremental upgrade in specifications.Updated: Aug 26, 2018 13:11 IST
OnePlus 6T is widely speculated to launch in October, roughly six months after its predecessor — the OnePlus 6 — was launched worldwide. The ‘T’ models from OnePlus have traditionally represented incremental hardware upgrades and subtle design changes.
OnePlus 6T is going to be no exception. According to reports, OnePlus 6T is going to have a curvier and tinier notch to house basic front modules such as the camera, à la Oppo R17 Pro.
Both Oppo and OnePlus are subsidiaries of parent BBK Electronics Corporation in China but operate separately. OnePlus phones are traditionally inspired by Oppo’s R-series of phones.
But unlike the new Oppo phone, OnePlus 6T is likely to cut corners by skipping features such as the in-screen fingerprint sensor. According to an Express.co.uk report, the move will help the company keep the costs within an affordable range.
OnePlus 6T will have a triple camera setup like the Oppo R17. But one can expect improved fast charge — Dash Charge or Warp Charge in OnePlus speak. Among other expected improvements expected are improved display and water-resistance support.
OnePlus 6T also made an unofficial appearance on the Eurasian Economic Commission certification website, but that only served to reveal the phone’s model number (A6013).
This latest tidbit comes days after a CNET report said that OnePlus 6T is coming soon to the US with optimised radios for the local T-Mobile network. The report also indicated the new OnePlus 6T will be priced higher at $550 (Rs 38,300 approximately), although the final pricing may change later.
Meanwhile, a YouTube channel called Concept Creator has created renders of the new OnePlus 6T based on the leaks so far. They show a smartphone that’s a lot like the current OnePlus 6, but with a smaller notch.
