Google will be unveiling its next-generation Pixel smartphones this fall, possibly in October. The smartphones, dubbed ‘Pixel 3’ and ‘Pixel 3 XL’, has been showing up online through leaks and rumours. The authors of a new report now claim to have gotten their hands on a pre-production unit of Pixel that reveals everything about the smartphone.
Russian website Mobile-Review details the unreleased Google Pixel 3 XL with its specifications and product images as well. The hands-on review of Pixel 3 XL discloses details that stay true to rumours and leaks of the device. Keeping that in view, here’s everything we can expect from Google Pixel 3 XL.
Processor, RAM and storage
Google Pixel 3 XL will most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor. The same processor is seen in flagship smartphones such as OnePlus 6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Note 9. The smartphone will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. Another storage variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is also expected.
Google Pixel 3 XL is expected to feature a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ display. In terms of design, Google will incorporate the notch display on its Pixel 3 series. According to leaked images, Pixel 3 XL sports a small notch up front with a bottom bezel. The pre-production unit of Pixel 3 XL is white in colour with the same two-tone colour design on the rear panel. A mint-coloured power button comes as a small change on the smartphone.
Going by the report, Google is unlikely to adopt the common trend of dual-camera setups. Pixel 3 XL is seen with a single 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Google’s Pixel smartphones are known to have the best cameras, and the same can be expected from the Pixel 3 XL.
Battery, connectivity, OS
Google Pixel 3 XL will be fuelled by a 3,430mAh battery with a USB Type-C port for charging. There’s a fingerprint sensor at the rear. Though Google has ditched the 3.5mm audio jack even on the Pixel 3 XL, the company is likely to ship its own USB-C headphones with it. As expected, Pixel 3 XL will ship with the latest Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.
The smartphone will also have the ‘Active Edge’ feature, which enables the user to perform certain actions through gestures. Some gestures including squeezing the bottom half of the phone quickly to launch Google Assistant, and squeezing to turn on silent mode.
