PUBG Mobile is undoubtedly one of the most popular smartphone games globally, and in India. The battle royale game, however, has received flak for affecting children’s studies and their overall behaviour. This has led to the mobile game getting banned in some cities across Gujarat.

PUBG Mobile was first banned in Rajkot where police picked up 10 youths for violating the order. Following this, eight more people were arrested from Ahmedabad and Himmatnagar for playing PUBG Mobile. The latest crackdown took place in Ahmedabad again where three more people were arrested for playing the game.

Ahmedabad police commissioner had issued a notification banning PUBG Mobile with effect from March 14, PTI reported. Similar notifications were issued in these cities saying that PUBG Mobile was adversely affecting studies and the overall behaviour, conduct and language of children, the report added.

In response to the ban, PUBG Mobile has issued a statement.

In a statement published by News18, PUBG Mobile said, “PUBG Mobile is a game. It is meant merely for entertainment and should be enjoyed in a healthy and responsible manner. In consonance with our endeavor to continue promoting responsible gaming experience, we are working on the introduction of a healthy gameplay system in India to promote balanced, responsible gaming, including limiting play time for under-aged players. We were thus surprised to learn that local authorities in a few cities have decided to impose a ban on playing our game. We are working to understand the legal basis of such bans, and hope we can have a constructive dialogue with relevant authorities to explain our objectives and that they withdraw the prohibition. To PUBG Mobile players, we want to assure you that we are on your side and we will try our best to find a reasonable solution”

PUBG Mobile is yet to introduce any effective measures around the ongoing ban. Speaking of which, there is no final word till when the PUBG Mobile ban will continue or if other state officials plan to do the same.
