Realme, which parted ways with Oppo last month, is set to launch a new smartphone in India. Called Realme 2, the new smartphone will be exclusively available via Flipkart.com, the company announced on Friday. Realme 2 will be officially launched on August 28.

Realme 2 is expected to be a major upgrade over the Realme 1, a design-focused budget smartphone with top-end specifications. Ahead of the launch, Realme has already confirmed key details about the phone such as Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a large 4,230mAh battery.

In terms of design, Realme 2 will be joining the modern Android phones with a wide notch on the display. Apart from a cutout on the display, rest of the design is expected to be similar to the Realme 1. The smartphone will feature a diamond cut design in a plastic panel. There will also be a blue colour variant. According to The Mobile Indian, Realme 2 will be available in Diamond Blue, Diamond Black and Diamond Red colour options.

The predecessor Realme 1 was launched in India in June this year. With price starting at Rs 8,990, Realme 1 comes in multiple variants including one with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. In terms of specifications, Realme 1 sports a 6-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. For photography, Realme 1 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel camera for selfies. The smartphone runs on ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by a 3,410mAh battery. ALSO READ: Oppo Realme 1 Review
