Samsung’s ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event on August 9 will draw attention for another major launch – Fortnite on Android. Epic Games’ popular game Fortnite is said to debut on the Galaxy Note 9. The viral game will be available for all Android phones after one month.

According to xdadevelopers and 9to5google, Samsung has an exclusive partnership with Epic Games for the launch of Fortnite for Android. While this information cannot be confirmed, the possibility doesn’t seem unlikely since Fortnite for Android has been expected to launch this summer.

Fortnite has been available on most of the major platforms except for Android, which is the largest mobile platform in the world. An Android version was said to launch in July, but has been delayed evidently.

Fortnite will reportedly be exclusive to Galaxy Note 9 for a month and then launch for all the Android phones. With the exclusive launch, Galaxy Note 9 buyers will also get V-Bucks worth $100 and $150 for in-game purchases. Another offer for those not interested in Fortnite will get to opt for wireless AKG headphones, said the reports.

Riding on Fortnite’s success

Fortnite which competes with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has become one of the most successful games in the recent times after Pokemon Go and Candy Crush.

The game has helped Epic Games become a $5 billion to $8 billion company with Fortnite alone bringing $1.2 billion, according to a Bloomberg report. The report further estimates Fortnite to generate more than $2.7 billion this year.

According to a report in June this year, Fortnite raked in more than $25 million during the first month of its launch. The game is expected to take over some of the popular multi-player mobile games and even generate more revenues than Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor, according to Sensor Tower.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is scheduled to go on sale on August 23. This would further delay Fortnite for Android roll out until the end of September.

That said it will not be the first time a popular game will be exclusive to a handset upon its launch. Back in 2016, Apple introduced Super Mario Run exclusively on its iOS platform. An Android version of the classic video game was launched roughly four months later.

Galaxy Note 9: From productivity to gaming
Samsung has over the years pushed its Galaxy Note-series for professionals and those focused on the productivity. But in the recent past, Samsung has also demonstrated and highlighted the gaming performances of its flagship phones.

It is worth noting that Samsung is expected to add a vapour chamber heat pipe for cooling to prevent overheating. It’s understood that Galaxy Note 9 will be packed with top-end specifications and features making it a powerful smartphone for gaming. The smartphone will most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 or in-house Exynos 9810 processor paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
