Xiaomi’s sister brand Poco made its debut earlier this week. ‘Poco by Xiaomi’ also launched its first smartphone – Poco F1. The smartphone starts at Rs 20,999 with many storage variants to choose from.
Poco F1 comes with top-end specifications backed by its aggressive price tag. The special ‘Armoured’ edition of Poco F1 with a Kevlar body, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs 29,999. Poco F1 competes against mid-range frontrunners like OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z and Honor 10. Here’s a look at the top five features of Poco F1 which make it stand out.
Best Qualcomm processor
Poco F1 is powered by Qualcomm’s strongest processor till date – Snapdragon 845. This makes Poco F1 the cheapest smartphone with Snapdragon 845 processor taking the title from Asus Zenfone 5Z. The same processor is present in flagship smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S9, OnePlus 6, and Asus Zenfone 5Z. Poco F1 also leverages on the chipset’s AI capabilities promising a 300% increase in the technology.
Poco F1 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC already promises a fast performance. The smartphone also comes liquid cooling which will prevent it from overheating during gaming. Xiaomi says that Poco F1 offers a better performance for heavy games like Arena of Valor than Apple’s iPhone X.
AI camera with smart scene detection
Poco F1 has a dual-camera setup at the rear comprising of a 12-megapixel f/1.9 and 5-megapixel f/1.9 sensors. For selfies, there’s a 20-megapixel camera with portrait mode and facial recognition as well. Poco F1’s camera comes with AI features like scene recognition for 206 scenes across 25 categories. The front camera can also recognise up to 10 different scenes. There’s also AI beauty mode, a feature common in Xiaomi smartphones.
On the software front Poco runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI. The smartphone however has a customised MIUI with its own Poco launcher. MIUI for Poco comes with an app drawer, swipe gestures, and scheduled security patches and updates. Xiaomi will be releasing the beta version of Poco launcher on Google Play Store on August 29.
Large battery with fast charge
Poco F1 carries on Xiaomi’s known trait of long battery life smartphones. The smartphone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery along with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. Xiaomi promises up to 30 hours of calling and 146 hours of audio playback on a single charge.
