February 14 was the bloodiest day in the Valley’s 30-year-old insurgency. Never before had so many people died in a single strike in the Kashmir Valley. Nothing remained of Adil Ahmad Dar, the Pulwama suicide bomber.

The eruption of anger after Burhan Wani’s killing in 2016 was a consequence of 2010. If 2010 was a long period of unrest, 2016 saw an uprising that gave birth to new-age militants, including Adil Ahmad Dar.

Police say Adil Ahmad Dar had joined terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed about a year back. The group had claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack on a CRPF convoy.
