According to IMD officials, the monsoon’s arrival at Andaman sea was as per schedule though its entry into Kerala may be delayed till June 6.

With INS Kohassa, India set to get fourth air base in the Andamans

INS Kohassa will be India’s fourth air base and the third naval air facility in the Andamans that overlooks key sea lanes of communication and strategic points. These islands dominate the Bay of Bengal with more than 60,000 commercial vessels passing through each year.

Detailing how the Sentinelese speak, John Allen Chau, noted that they “make high pitched sounds.... sounds such as the letters b, p, l and s.” Chau, the first outsider to have sneaked into the island in 12 years, also described the topography of island.

The Restricted Area Permit (RAP), which forbids people from visiting prohibited locations without permission, may be reimposed in the North Sentinel island where an American was killed by members of a highly protected and reclusive tribe, officials said Wednesday. The central government has also found that 44 incidents of violation of rules and regulations, other than RAP, by foreigners have taken place in the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the recent past.
