UP too plans action against ‘illegal’ Bangladeshis

Amid the row over exclusion of about 40 lakh people from the National Register for Citizens (NRC) in Assam, the Uttar Pradesh government too has made it clear that it proposes to act against illegal Bangladeshis in the state.

2005 and now: Mamata Banerjee’s u-turn on Bangladeshi immigrants

Mamata Banerjee, who said the Centre’s National Registry of Citizens (NRC) move will lead to a “civil war and bloodbath”, had back then said in Lok sabha that “infiltration into Bengal has become a disaster” and Bangladesh nationals were on the voting list.
