Punjab dairy farmers to go on indefinite dharna from Aug 24

Addressing a press conference here, progressive dairy farmers association (PDFA) president Daljit Singh Sadarpura said dairy owners have been trying to take up their demands with the government for the last three months but neither the chief minister nor finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema is willing to talk to them.

Centre notifies appointments of 11 additional judges at Punjab and Haryana high court

The Central government on Sunday notified appointments of elevation advocates as additional judges of Punjab and Haryana high court. Supreme Court collegium had recommended names of thirteen lawyers on July 25 out of which 11 names have been cleared by the government.

Punjab to provide wheat flour at doorsteps of beneficiaries from Oct 1

The Punjab minister said the home delivery service will introduce the concept of mobile fair price shops (MPS). For this, a transport vehicle fitted with a GPS and cameras will be used so that the handing over of flour to the beneficiary can be live-streamed.
The new scheme is likely to save the beneficiaries in Punjab almost <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>170 crore of the beneficiaries in respect of the expenses incurred for grinding wheat into flour. (PTI)
