Encroachments, debris and garbage take over cycling track on Delhi’s MG Road

At a time when the Delhi government and other agencies are making efforts to develop cycling tracks in the city to promote the use of non-motorised transport, the continuous, dedicated tracks on MG road are a picture in contrast.

Cycle tracks make way for cars in Gurugram

Over 5,000 people register to use Delhi civic body’s smart cycles

As of now, a total of 300 smart bikes have already been put under public use at 25 stations, spread over the entire NDMC area and 200 additional smart bikes will be added in the fleet by the end of December this year, officials said.

Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari said a regular diesel-run bus’s per kilometre cost is Rs 110. He added it is Rs 70 for an ethanol-run bus and Rs 50 for electric buses.

BMC ready to pump money into Aaditya Thackeray's Mumbai cycling track

In a bid to get organisers and sponsors to run the 11-km cycling track till May-end, BMC offered to pay up to Rs3.5 lakh per event held over six Sundays.
