New York’s attorney general on Saturday moved to form a grand jury to investigate the death of Daniel Prude, a Black man who died after being hooded and held down by Rochester police earlier this year.

Daniel Prude, a 41-year-old African American, had died after an encounter with police in Rochester, in March. Seven police officers were suspended this Thursday over the arrest.

Daniel Prude, 41 died when he was taken off life support March 30. That was seven days after officers who encountered him running naked through the street put a hood over his head to stop him from spitting, then held him down for about two minutes until he stopped breathing.
