The state has found 21 cases of Delta plus variants covering six districts. Of them, nine cases are in Ratnagiri, seven in Jalgaon, two in Mumbai and one case each in Thane, Palghar and Sindhudurg.
Dr Bhargava said the variant is present in 12 countries, and India has reported 51 “very localised” cases from 11 states and Union territories.

Madhya Pradesh has reported cases where vaccinated people have been detected with the Delta Plus variant. It is not known when they tested positive and when they got vaccinated, but these cases did not become severe, the government informed.

Delta Plus has been found in a sample collected on April 5, which indicates that though the number of cases in India at present is not massive, the variant is already present in some states for quite some time.
