Signature Bridge to be shut from Nov 4 to 15

The closure of the bridge for traffic coincides with the odd-even road rationing scheme that comes into effect on November 4. Police said they have given the no objection certificate to the government and asked them to expedite the pending work.

In a spot check, HT had found that almost of the entire stretch of the river — from its eastern bank to the western bank — was blocked by construction and demolition waste and soil leaving only a few metres for the river to pass through, like a trickle.

The number of tourists availing Delhi Tourism’s Hop-On-Hop-Off bus service has dropped to below 80 per day, much lower than the 250 minimum required to keep the service profitable. The number of buses too have dropped — from 15 low-floor CNG buses in 2010 to just five today.
