Greece battles wildfires for third day, more than dozen villages evacuated

Temperatures of more than 40 Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) and strong winds have fanned more than 150 wildfires in different areas of Greece in recent days.

Fires are not uncommon in Greece’s forests, which cover almost half its territory, and the Mount Penteli area has suffered regularly in the past decades.

The Greece government has not yet said how many people are still missing from the wildfire, which broke out on Monday, as firefighters continue to battle blazes in some areas.
