The Punjab minister, whose spirited praise of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on the occasion and photo with a Khalistani leader had earned him much criticism back home, said that though Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh had asked not to go, other Congress leaders and even the party leadership had backed his decision to go.
