Kerala has received 42% more rainfall than usual since the beginning of the monsoon season in June. So far, there has been 2346.3 mm of rainfall, instead of the average 1649.55 mm.

PM Modi announces interim relief of Rs 500 crore for Kerala, says rescue operations top priority

The PM took off for an aerial survey of the flood damage after the meeting with the chief minister. Earlier, the aerial survey had to be suspended for some time after rain forced his helicopter to return to the base.

No respite yet for Kerala as Met office warns of more torrential rains
