After joining TMC, former BJP leader and Union minister of state Babul Supriyo said that his decision to switch sides happened in the last four days after he met party supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee.

Mukul Roy's switch from the BJP back to his former party, the Trinamool Congress, had nudged a longstanding political rivalry in West Bengal, once again. Reacting to the development, Suvendu Adhikari had remarked that anti-defection law "has never been implemented" in the state before.
