In a tweet, Ken Juster, US ambassador to India, congratulated PM Modi for ‘well-deserved’ Legion of Merit. “We greatly appreciate your commitment to a strong US-India partnership,” Juster tweeted.

The medal is rarely awarded and can only be conferred by the US President. It is usually given to heads of state or heads of government
