Samajwadi Party candidate Lal Bihari Yadav won the Varanasi division teachers’ seat defeating Dr Pramod Kumar Mishra of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh (Om Prakash Sharma group) and pushing incumbent MLC Chetnarayan Singh of the BJP to the third place
