PCMC to take strict action against those found wasting drinking water

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has warned residents to use water judiciously and prevent misuse and wastage due to declining water stocks at Pavana dam. The dam's water stock is currently at 46%, and officials estimate it will last until July. The PCMC provides 500 million litres of water daily from the dam and 30 million litres of water purchased from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. However, many residents use over 200 litres per capita per day, and the PCMC has threatened to cut water connections and take strict action against those who waste water.

In summer, the demand for water increases and so people should use drinking water judiciously, PCMC said. (KALPESH NUKTE/ HT)
