Centre likely to extend forest clearances for over 40 mines

According to senior officials in the environment ministry, the extension of green clearances is necessary to avert major disruptions in the mining industry. Environmental activists and researchers warned that a transfer of clearances would pose the risk of past violations of by mining companies.

Environmental rules for expansion of projects may be relaxed

Ficci seeks govt’s intervention for early resumption of mining operations in Goa

“The sudden discontinuance of mining operations in Goa is creating a huge loss to the mineral sector as a whole...Therefore, government’s intervention is requested for early resumption of mining operations as the situation at ground is a grave concern for the whole sector,” Ficci said.
