The six-page response by the administration was filed early this week but the case could not be heard on March 6 and is expected to be heard on March 13, additional advocate general Mohsin S Qadri said on Sunday
Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq allowed by the authorities to offer Friday prayers at Jama Masjid Srinagar today for the first time since his last Friday prayers at the mosque on October 6
The committee condemned the administration for “not allowing the Mirwaiz to deliver sermons and offer Friday prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid, Srinagar”
The Mirwaiz, who is also chief cleric of Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, was put under house arrest ahead of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A on August 5, 2019
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, the managing body of the mosque, said Mirwaiz was to deliver a special sermon at the mosque on the occasion of Shab-e-Meraj, commemorating the night of the ascension of the Prophet.
