This year’s monsoon session was most productive for Lok Sabha since 2000

According to the data compiled by PRS Legislative Research, 20 bills were introduced during the session and 12 were passed.

Triple talaq bill not tabled in Rajya Sabha, deferred to next session

The much-debated Triple Talaq Bill was scheduled to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Friday a day after Union Cabinet approved amendments to the bill making it possible for a magistrate to grant bail to the accused.

Govt, Opposition spar in Parliament over bullet train project, lynchings

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said the cost of the bullet train project was exorbitant and the amount could have been spent on activities like doubling of thousands of kilometres of railway tracks or opening up of new divisions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government defeated the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Friday with 325 MPs voting against the motion.The vote took place after PM Modi’s address in the lower house as the debate on the motion ran late into the night.The Prime Minister mocked Rahul Gandhi for hugging him during the debate, saying the Congress president was actually dreaming of becoming the next Prime Minister and had asked him to get up from his seat in the Lok Sabha.Earlier in the day, Modi was attacked by leaders of several opposition parties, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Telugu Desam Party’s Jayadev Galla, during the discussion over a number of issues.
