Patiala gets ODF++ status, might get boost in Swachh ranking

The Patiala municipal corporation (MC) has finally received a certification of being included in the list of open defecation free (ODF) ++ category of urban local bodies in India. In a third-party certification process carried out by the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs, the Patiala municipal corporation has been declared ODF++, which means that it has achieved safe sustainable sanitation for all.

India still needs to tackle its solid waste problem

North body goes all out to get open defecation free tag

The corporation has failed on-the-ground inspections done by the Quality Council of India (QCI), conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), thrice and this will be its fourth attempt.

Declared ODF in 2017, over 66,000 Uttarakhand homes still do not have toilet

Uttarakhand got the Open Defecation Free status in July 2017 but according to government records on its target of constructing toilets in people’s homes under the Swachh Bharat Mission, it plans to sanction funds for 65,664 toilets.
