The bottom layer of the Himalaya Bridge near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus was corroded, which may have led to the collapse, according to Jaswant Arlekar, a structural consultant empanelled by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), who inspected the bridge on Friday.
