Independence Day celebrations to be muted amid Covid-19 pandemic

Fewer dignitaries will attend the event because of the social distancing norms, an official said. Only 150 to 200 of them will be seated in the VIP enclosure compared to almost 1,000 in previous years. Last year, 10,000 people attended the Independence Day function.

These 5 Delhi monuments will be illuminated on World Heritage Day 2020

The Red Fort, the Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Purana Qila and Safdarjung’s Tomb are illuminated daily, but the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) says on Saturday, there will be special lighting of diyas and candles.

The first three storeys are made of red sandstone, the fourth and fifth storeys are of marble and sandstone. At the foot of the tower is the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, which is said to be the first mosque built in India.
