Reliance Communications insolvency rescue plan hits DoT hurdle

The DoT objection comes after the Supreme Court recently asked the government to clarify how it plans to recover dues from bankrupt telcos, which, apart from RCom, also include Aircel and Videocon.

The development comes a day after Reliance Communications posted a consolidated loss of Rs 30,142 crore for July-September 2019 due to provisioning for liabilities after the Supreme Court ruling on statutory dues.

Debt-ridden Reliance Communications said on Wednesday that the total number of jobs at the company have been reduced by about 94% to 3,400 at present, from its peak level of 52,000.

RCom’s plea against insolvency to be heard by NCLAT tomorrow

The plea of Anil Ambani-run RCom was mentioned before the bench of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), seeking an urgent hearing on the issue. It has directed that the matter be listed for hearing tomorrow.
