Fatwa on website:No ground for lodging FIR against Darul Uloom of Deoband, say police
In a letter addressed to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Saharanpur , National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanoongo highlighted the commission’s concern regarding a fatwa published on the Darul Uloom Deoband’s website. The fatwa in question discusses the concept of ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ and allegedly glorifies “martyrdom in the context of India’s invasion”.

Bangla man held for entering India on forged documents
U.P. ATS arrests another illegal Bangladeshi immigrant involved in anti-national activities, making it a total of eight arrests since October 2023. The arrested man helped others enter India illegally and was caught trying to escape to Bangladesh. The mastermind behind the operation was also arrested earlier in January. They received foreign funding of ₹58 crore and used it to bring people into the country illegally.

The AQI in Saharanpur remained between 100 to 190 in the past 10 days, while it crossed 400 in Delhi, 350 in Ghaziabad and Meerut and 250 in Shamli, Bulandshahr and Baghpat districts. Environmental experts and pollution control officials attribute the better air quality in Saharanpur to its location, large green cover, proximity with Shivalik range forests, bigger rural area and a few other factors.
