Social security code bill tabled in Lok Sabha

With this code, the Centre will be able to fix provident fund contributions to be made by employees in different sectors and provide for payment of gratuity to fixed-term employees.

Govt may give sops to workers in push to reform labour laws

Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government’s original plan was to translate 44 complex labour laws into four codes—on Wages, industrial Relations, Social Security and Welfare, and Occupation Safety, Health and Working Conditions.

RSS affiliate opposes Centre’s proposal to merge labour laws

The BJP-led government has proposed to merge labour laws that govern institutions such as Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation and Employees’ State Insurance Corporation to create a Labour Code on Social Security.
