On Thursday, SDMC had issued detailed guidelines for regularisation of commercial units in local markets in a move aimed at starting the process of desealing 921 shops in localities such as Hauz Khas, Defence Colony, Greater Kailash and Green Park, among others.

The guidelines issued by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation to regularise commercial units in local markets will not bring any relief to shopkeepers in Amar Colony, Meharchand and Chattarpur marble markets as the new guidelines would apply only to local shopping complexes.

Till August 14, the South and North Delhi municipal corporations jointly increased their tax collection by Rs 119.33 crore and added over 56,000 new tax payers to their records. The SDMC now has 20,000 new taxpayers and is aiming to increase the number by two lakh.

No funds to remove road debris, says South Delhi Municipal Corporation

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday objected to a Public Works Department circular asking civic bodies to remove unclaimed debris from roads under their jurisdiction. SDMC mayor Narendra Chawla said the corporation may not be able to carry the task as it doesn’t have funds.

On Friday, the anti-encroachment drive was undertaken at Feroze Gandhi Road, Veer Savarkar Marg, Krishna Market and surrounding areas. Officials said that around three kilometre of road was cleared for the use of pedestrians.

Abuzar, 14, died at Apollo Hospital on September 13. His death certificate says he died of “dengue shock syndrome with multiple organ failure”. But the 14-year-old does not figure in the city’ s municipal records of dengue deaths. Nor do the names of 18 other residents of Shaheen Bagh and Abu Fazal enclave in Jamia Nagar who died of the mosquito-borne disease.
