Delhi riots: Court rejects ex-AAP councillor Tahir Hussain’s bail plea

Additional sessions judge Amitabh Rawat also rejected the contentions of Tahir Hussain’s counsel Rizwan that there is no criminal conspiracy since the co-accused has been granted pardon.

Delhi Riots: HC to hear former AAP leader Tahir Hussain's bail pleas today

Tahir Hussain, a former councillor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was booked by the Delhi Police in connection with the communal violence that broke out in the northeastern part of the national capital last year.

HC seeks Delhi Police response on Tahir Hussain’s bail plea

Justice Mukta Gupta issued the notice and directed that the bail application be listed before justice Yogesh Khanna, who is hearing the bail pleas moved by Hussain in the other riots cases on August 6.

Delhi riots: HC vacates stay, trial court to hear arguments in conspiracy case

Earlier, in November 2020, the high court stayed the trial after the police challenged an order by the trial court to supply hard copies of the 17,500-page charge sheet to all 15 accused.

Hussain suspended because he skipped meetings: East civic body to high court

EDMC mayor Nirmal Jain had cited the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act and said if a councillor remains absent from meetings three successive times, without permission, his/her membership may be ended.

Delhi riots: Court grants bail to five accused in two cases

Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav granted the relief to them on furnishing a bail bond of ₹20,000 with one surety each in the case related to the alleged vandalism and torching of a car showroom during the riots in Dayalpur area.
