The Telangana high court, which was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by a group of rights’ activists, directed that the state government take steps to preserve the bodies of the four men – Mohammad Arif, Jollu Naveen, Jollu Shiva and Chintakunta Chenna Kesavulu – till further orders from the Supreme Court.

Ex-SC judge may probe Telangana encounter that killed 4 rapists: Top court

The top court on Wednesday proposed to appoint a retired Supreme Court judge to inquire into the Telangana encounter that killed four accused of raping and murdering a 26-year-old veterinary doctor.

Supreme Court to hear on Wednesday plea for SIT or CBI probe into encounter deaths of 4 accused in Hyderabad veterinarian’s rape

Telangana police had on Friday said that the accused were killed in an exchange of fire with police. The incident took place around 6.30 am when the accused were taken to the site of offence for the reconstruction of the scene of crime as part of the investigation, a senior police official had told PTI.
