These are the first assembly elections being held in Telangana since its formation in 2014 when elections were held in undivided Andhra Pradesh. All 119 seats in Telangana are casting their votes today amid elaborate arrangements.

The Congress, which issued B-form to 100 candidates, gave only 11 tickets to women (11 %) while the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti offered just four seats (4 %) as against six during the 2014 polls.
