Bhavani qualified for the Tokyo Games through the Adjusted Official Ranking (AOR) Method. Two individual spots were up for grabs for the Asia and Oceania region based on the World Rankings as of April 5, 2021. She is ranked 45th and occupies one of the two available slots based on the ranking.

This comes as Japanese businesses are battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, raising doubts about re-investing in an Olympics that may be short on fans, but long on pandemic-related rules to discourage tourists, sightseeing and spending.

India’s Olympic core group shooters to train in bio-secure environment

The lodging arrangements of shooters, coaches and support staff have been made in a hotel near the Karni Singh Range. After a week’s quarantine and three negative Covid-19 results, shooters will begin training on October 23. They will be given a break for Diwali, following which they will re-assemble for the second phase of training.

Tokyo observed the original date a year ago. That was before the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the Olympics and pushed back the opening to July 23, 2021. Fireworks cascaded over Tokyo Bay back then, and local celebrities unveiled the medals in a highly choreographed show.
